Teak Shelf, 1960s
Børge Mogensen. Søborg Møbler. Sounds like a nice tongue twister for mini Danes.
But let's turn our attention to the essentials: in the early '60s, Mogensen created a whole series of secretaries and storage pieces for Søborg Møbler. Most of them as stand-alone pieces, but also an extensive storage system very similar to the one Georg Satink designed for WK Möbel: a variety of modular storage pieces that were just stacked on each other. Made with high craftmanship and equipped with beautiful details like the characteristic handles and bevelled shelves, they were almost too good to disappear in the thick of the crowd. So... When we got hold of a whole unit, we decided to split them and see if they weren't better off without one another.
Like this beautiful bookshelf with said height-adjustable board, black rear panel and lovely velvet-like teak veneer. Weren't we right?
Good general condition with medium traces of usage. There were extra holes drilled for the shelf, which shows a masked damage at the bottom. The bottom of the carcass somes with fine holes that were used for fixing vertical board which do not exist anymore. Newly added square steel legs.
Measures: width 100cm, depth 31cm, height 73cm.
