Lounge Chair, 1970s
A replica, but special?
We agree: there is no such thing like a desirable replica. But. In the '70s, there was a German expat in Kenya who was penchant for Mid-Century Scandinavian design. Importing was time-consuming and costly, so he had a local manufacturer make his favourite designs from native woods. Like the Getama GE 370, a design by Hans Wegner, which he brought to Germany when he returned 20 years later. Turns out, this kind of wood (we have to apologize: we hadn't ever heard of the kind, and have quite a hard time recalling its name) is super resilient and sturdy, so this easy chair is literally made for your patio. Hello, neighbours!
